The Steigenberger Hotel is housed in red brick building, which, though modern, is designed in the traditional Hanseatic style characteristic of Northern Germany. The large open plan lobby is very bright due to the large windows, which offer a view of the Alster canal. The reception desk is near the entrance and there is a bar and a comfortable seating area to the rear. The guestrooms are large and bright with light wooden furniture and a warm, welcoming colour scheme. They are decorated in a modern in style and exceptionally well maintained, as are the bathrooms. The hotel’s bright, informal breakfast room, called the Wintergarden, is situated to the left of the lobby. It has large windows, leading on to a terrace, which is opened in the summer. For evening dining, the Calla restaurant unites Europe and Asia in delicious harmony. It is furnished and decorated in a warm colour scheme, with Chinese wall designs, and offers outstanding views over the Alsterfleet, where you can watch the motor launches pass by.
